New building of Manipur Bhawan adorns Guwahati

Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh today inaugurated the new building of Manipur Bhawan at Ulubari, Guwahati and dedicated it to the people of Manipur.
Speaking at the occasion as the chief guest the Chief Minister said that Manipur Government is also in the process of developing the historic Red Land at Shillong and for which due clearance from the Meghalaya Government particularly from the Municipal Corporation of Shillong is required first.
Regarding the new Manipur Bhawan the CM said that it is an asset “for all of us and feel proud to acquire our own Manipur Bhawan built on a piece of land acquired by the State Government at a prime location in Guwahati" .

For acquiring the plot at a prime location in Guwahati in 1990, he also expressed his gratitude to the then GAD Minister, For the maintenance of the new Bhawan, the CM also felt the need to have more staff posted there.
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam who presided over the function said that the long felt need of the people of the State to have “our own Manipur Bhawan at such a prime location in Guwahati” is a dream come true.
He also said that Manipur Government is considering to build Manipur Bhawans at other locations including Mumbai.
Works Minister Ksh Biren Singh, GAD Minister Korungthang were the guests of honour.
MLAs Th Shyamkumar, O Landhoni Devi and Md Fazur Rahim, Chief Secretary O Nabakishore, top ranking engineers of PWD, Manipur and officials of GAD Manipur were also present on the occasion.
It may be mentioned that the new Manipur Bhawan is located at Assam State Electricity Board (ASEB) road, Ulubari, Guwahati.
It is built on a plot of land measuring 0.94 acre (approx) acquired by Manipur Government in December 1990 with a total expenditure of Rs 123.82 lakh.
The building is a G+ 4 structure with 70 rooms in total having a capacity to accommodate 90 persons.
It has a Governor suite, CM’s suite, 3 Ministers’ suites and a VIP room etc.
The total cost of the construction is Rs 15 crore 25 lakh and the cost of the furniture is Rs 150 lakh.
The construction started during 2004-05 and it was completed in September 2016.
