Edu (S) Director seeks suggestions in drafting National Education Policy

The 8th Annual Regional Principals' Conference 2019 of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Tinsukia Region was held at Classic Grande Chingmeirong today.
The three days conference was organised jointly by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan Tinsukia Region and Kendriya Vidyalaya No 1 Lamphelpat, Imphal.
Speaking on the occasion, Th Kirankumar, Director of Education expressed happiness on organising the function and maintained that holding such conference will provide an opportunity for all Principals to come together and discuss on the development and betterment of Kendriya Vidyalayas.
He urged all stakeholders to provide suggestions in the formation of Education policy and tips to improve the Education sector better.

Kirankumar maintained that it should not be the sole responsibility of the Education Department to formulate Education Policy and added that it is crucial for authorities of the education sector to chip in their ideas and suggestions in drafting the policy.
Kendra Vidyalayas and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas have brought laurels for the past many years, he remarked.
He also added that with the increase in the number of districts in the State, there is necessity to open more numbers of Kendriya Vidyalayas in the State.
Speaking as the Guest of Honour, Hmangte Lerte Kom, Additional Director, Education, GoM said that Thoubal Kendriya Vidyalaya is in the pipeline and the Government is keen to open Kendriya Vidyalayas in every districts of the State.
Students presented cultural items as part of the inauguration of the conference.
There are 1,290 Kendriya Vidyalayas in the country and 38 Kendriya Vidyalayas in Tinsukia region, six in Nagaland, nine in Manipur, 16 in Arunachal Pradesh and seven in Assam.
Manipur has been selected as the venue for the conference because of the excellent academic performances of the nine Kendriya Vidyalayas in different districts of the State.
The conference of the Principals is held annually to conduct SWOT analysis wherein the strength, weaknesses and challenges faced by the Sangathans are assessed.
New proposals are put up for discussion and plans implemented and adopted in the preceding year are also assessed to check whether it reached the set target.
Discussions are also carried out on areas which will help in achieving the goals set by the Sangathan.
Meanwhile, B K Behera, DC in-charge, KV, RO, Tinsukia said that Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan is the leading group of schools in the country.
The pass percentage of students was 98.27 percent in class XII and 99.47 percent in class X which is the best in almost all groups of schools.
In the last two years, the Sangathan has been continuously improving the quality of education and as a result, the performances of the students in the examinations have improved across the country.
Director of Education Th Kirankumar graced the function as the chief guest while KV Imphal No 1 Lamphelpat Principal Sh M Paswan, Additional Director Education Hmangte Lerte Kom, Assistant Commissioner of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan RO Tinsukia V Joglekar and Kendriya Vidyalaya Imphal No 2 Langjing Principal K Alung Khumba also attended.
