Governor Dr Najma Heptulla has conveyed her greetings and best wishes to the people of the State particularly the Zeliangrong brethren on the auspicious occasion of Gaan Ngai.
In her message, Dr Najma stated that the festival symbolises bidding adieu to the old year and heralding a new year, full of hope and aspiration.
Though essentially an occasion of worship and thanksgiving to the Almighty, it is also an occasion of making joy and merriment, the Governor said and appealed all to join the celebration of Gaan Ngai in a spirit of friendship and brotherhood with traditional gaiety and devotion.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh too extended his warm greetings to the people of the State especially the Zeliangrong brethren on the occasion of Gaan Ngai.
Gaan Ngai is the biggest cultural and religious post-harvest festival of Zeliangrong community which sustains their cultural heritage and way of life, said a message of N Biren Singh.
The Chief Minister also expressed hope that the festival will strengthen the bond of brotherhood and oneness among all sections of the people in the State.
BJP Manipur Pradesh, president and Rajya Sabha MP K Bhabananda Singh also conveyed his heartiest greetings to the Zeliangrong community on the occasion of Gaan Ngai.
Works Minister Th Biswajit Singh too wished the people of the State especially the Zeliangrong community Happy Gaan Ngai.
The Minister stated that the festival is also celebrated to mark a new beginning and pay homage to the departed souls of the past year.
May this celebration lead the people of the State on the path of peace, development and prosperity, Biswajit prayed.
CAF and PD Minister Karam Shyam too conveyed his heartiest Gaan Ngai greetings and so too did Manipur People' Democratic Front (MPDF) and Patsoi Kendra Development Council (PKDC) .
