NEES, DES, FPA crowned champions in IE Subroto football tournament

Imphal, May 12 2022: New Era English School U-17 boys, Daina English School U-14 boys and Free Progress Academy U-17 girls were crowned champions in the 61st Imphal East District Subroto Mukherjee Football Tournament 2022 after their respective final matches played at Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong on Thursday.

In the U-17 girls' final, Free Progress Academy (Uyumpok) beat TAM Mission High School (Andro) with ease by producing a 3-0 drubbing of their opponents to clinch the title.

Mangpineng starred in her team's title triumph as she scored in the 16th and 41st minutes after Reshma opened the scoring in the 4th minute.

New Era English School, meanwhile, came through a tight tussle to eke out a 1-0 success against Kangla Ukok Memorial English School and lay their hands on the U-17 boys' championship trophy.

In the U-14 boys' summit clash, Diana English School (Porompat) rode on Ding Ding's double to fight off a first-half deficit for a 3-1 win over Kangla Ukok Memorial English School.

Arjun put Kangla Ukok in front in the 20th minute but Ding Ding equalised for Diana English School in the 38th minute before teammate Satab made it 2-1 in the 44th minute and Ding Ding collected his second goal in the 48th minute to make sure his school came out 3-1 winners to enjoy a memorial day.
