Source: The Sangai Express

Imphal, April 19 2023: PTCC-Patsoi qualified for the semi-final knock-out round of the 2nd MNCA Superplate Tournament as they beat KSDO-Kyamgei by 62 runs for the sixth straight win and became runaway Group A leaders with a match left to spare.

PTCC amassed 188 runs for 8 wickets after they were let to bat first and skittled out KSDO for just 126 runs in 33.4 overs to post the comfortable win today at Kongba Khunou Dhobi Lampak.

With the win PTCC cemented their place at top with 12 points, four clear ahead of second placed KSDO who have won four games in 6 matches.

PTCC had a stuttering start and were reduced to 20/3 in 4.1 overs with Shamir Khan removing both the openers cheaply in the first four overs before Tarique Aziz caught and bowled Andyroshan Mandingbam (7) for the third wicket.

From then PTCC kept the scoreboard ticking in a slower rate and gathered as many as 188 runs courtesy Sohail Akram (40 not out), Yambem Kaikuyamba (36), Shapam Kenjit (34), Mangshatabam Veekash (20) and Hijam Hemachandra (14) .

PTCC saw the most significant partnership between Shapam Kenjit and Sohail Akram with the duo gathering 76 runs for the 8th wicket.

Md Shamir Khan of KSDO returned with the best bowling figures of 3/34 in this innings as Tarique Aziz, Shajahan, Sangomshumpham Shah Nawaz and Md Arif Khan picked up a wicket each.

Chasing 189 for the win, KSDO were met with stiff resistance from PTCC bowlers and succumbed at 126 with Dominic Moirangthem (3/32) and Shapam Kenjit (2/10) leading from the front.

YM Anish Khan emerged the highest run getter for KSDO with 21 runs followed by Abdul Rafique (15), Tarique Aziz (13) and Nawaz Sharif (11) .

Sohail Akram, Naorem Victor, Sadananda Okram and Paonam Champion also chipped in with a wicket apiece in this innings to help PTCC secure the emphatic win.

Shapam Kenjit who added 34 runs and picked two wickets was declared man of the match.

Elsewhere at Khangabok Part III Cherapur Public Ground, RCA registered a huge 8-wicket win over FORCE-Kshetrigao for the second Group A win in 5 matches.

RCA chose wisely to field first and bowled out FORCE for a paltry total of 78 runs in 21.4 overs and cruised to the winning 82 in 12.4 overs at the cost of 2 wickets.

Bm Sabakhan (4/32) and Md Danish Khan (4/23) of RCA shone with the ball today to leave FORCE teetering.

Aziz Mirza and Naesh Hussain also shared a wicket each to assist in batting implode of FORCE whose MM Nawaj Sharif was the highest run getter with 23 runs.

In reply, Aziz Mirza (28 off 9 balls) and Afjal Khan (25 off 35 balls) provided the initial flourish before Syed Hussain smacked 3 fours and 2 sixes on the way to his unbeaten 26 and saw his team to a comfortable win.

Mushir Alam of FORCE picked up both the wickets in this innings.

Bm Sabakhan who led the RCA's bowling attack with the best figures of 4/32 was adjudged man of the match.
