RK Bhogen wins 1st State Level Open Chess tourney title

Imphal, December 19 2021:
Raj Kumar Bhogen Singh won the title of the First State Level Open Chess Tournament 2021 organised by Herojit And Tompok Memorial Trust (LHTMT) in association with Manipur Chess Association at Kwakeithel Nganappi Thong Mapal community hall.
Bhogen secured 6 points to win the title finishing with better BH score than second placed Oinam Ningthem who also earned 6 points.
Khumukcham Sanjoy Singh (5.5 points) finished third as Arambam Binit Singh (5.5 points) and Naorem Tokyo (5 points) finished fourth and fifth.
Ronaldo Soibam, Kshetrimayum Rocky Singh, Elangbam Sashikanta, Angom Harimohon, Naorem Pari, Ningthoujam Brojen, Sinam Boicha, S Premjit, Konjengbam Poireikhomba and M Modhusudon respectively secured 6th to 15th position in the tournament.
Meanwhile, Laishram Lanchenba, Khangembam Tony and Sanathoi Thang were adjudged first, second and third in the U-13 age category as M Dorendro, Bit Irom and Amom Shyamkishore secured first, second and third positions respectively.
Kshetrimayum Aimson was announced best unrated player while Khoirom Bikramjit and Rajkumari bidyalakshmi were adjudged best player and best player among girls.
The closing ceremony cum felicitation programme was attended by Ibopishak Moirangthem, president LHTMT; Naorem Lokendra, VC MU; T Phulen, YAS Director; Associate Prof Akham Joykumar, Chairman BOSEM; Thongam Nabachandra, general secretary, Manipur Chess Association among others as dignitaries who also gave away prizes to the participants and winners.
