State U-16 boys' hockey tourney begins

Imphal, April 13 2010: THe 16th State U-16 Boys' Hockey Tournament, 2010 organised by the Hockey Manipur has commenced today at Hockey Stadium, Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, Imphal. Altogether seven teams are participating in the tournament.

The opening match was played between COSMO, Wangkhei and SYUC, Ucheko Khunou.

After playing a keenly contested match COSMO beat SYUC 2-0 t win the match.

Both teams displayed a tough fight against one another throughout the match.

They played the match with full determination to win.

However lack of better coordination among the players of SYUC in the first half of the match resulted to their loss.

The first goal of COSMO against SYUC was scored by Ph Churchil in the 37th minute of the match.

Just after two minutes, L Lalboy of COSMO scored another goal against SYUC and sealed the fate of the match.

However hard they tried, SYUC could not scored back a single goal against COSMO and lost the match.

K Johnson of COSMO was declared Man of the Match.

There will be no match tomorrow.
