Telecommunication, which is one of the essential items of the contemporary world is in bad shape in Tamenglong district with the lone telecommunication provider Bharat Sanchar Ningam Limited (BSNL) is in an awful state in the district.
BSNL has many plans to be taken up to satisfy its subscribers'desire but all plans seems to be only in word without action in the district authorities are not materialising any of the plan.
Recently DGM Imphal had promised to install another Global Mobile Service (GSM) at Gadai bazaar (Medical Gate) Tamenglong district HQs, installation of GSM at Khongsang BTS and plans to set up more BTS in the district along the high ways.
Another GSM, BTS also plans to set up at Khongjaron villages in some 5 years back, but till today the BSNL failed and unable to put all the plans into practical.
At present the lone GSM (BTS) at telephone exchange, Tamenglong has only three sectors of configuration with 48 outgoing calls and 48 incoming calls and this made net work busy, call cannot be mature, a reliable source said.
According to the source available here as many as 3000 subscribers (BSNL) calls was recorded within 15 minutes, the present GSM, BTS was over loaded.
It may worth mentioned here that due to frequent total collapsed of BSNL services and frequent network busy during the emergencies time many irritated and upset subscribers broke their SIMs cards and even broke their costly mobiles handsets.
The BSNL also failed to complete the works of buried the optical fibres to provide the broadband to the people of Tamenglong district.
In the meantime, the 11 Assam Rifles under the Red Shield Division today distributed musical instruments to Hindi Baptist Church Tamenglong and sports equipments to Khongbung youth clubs under military civic action.
