UCM condemns discrimination of state diver

Reacting against the discriminating nature of the Swimming Federation of India, United Committee Manipur decried rejection of state diver Kongbrailatpam Ramananda Sharma in the last hour for his participation in the World Junior Diving Championships in Adelaide, Australia.
In a press release, UCM alleged that the Chief Coach of Swimming Federation of India, Mayur Vyas rejected the participation of Ramananda in the last hour of their departure He rejected Ramananda's participation when he was about to board the flight stating that the they could not get his visa to go to Australia.
UCM further stated that family members of Ramananda had deposited Rs 2 lakhs to the federation for his participation in the championships by collecting through organising tambola draw and donations by local clubs and individuals.
Mention may be made that 15 years old Ramananda had broken the existing National Record in diving twice in his short span of career as a diver.
He is now serving in the Indian Army.
Rejection of Ramananda in the last minute from participating the championships after stating the reason as his denial of visa has once again showed the discriminating nature of the mainland India towards the people of Manipur, stated the press release.
