AR felicitates local athlete

Senapati, June 26 2023: Giving recognition and acknowledgement to local youth of the area, IGAR (East) of the Assam Rifles felicitated a young athlete from Senapati district on Monday.

As part of motivating the young athlete, namely, H Ngaopulou, 22 years, s/o A Hrailu of Liyai Khunou village, a digital watch was presented to him.

Known for long distance running, Ngaopulou's achievements include two gold medals in Manipur Olympic Games, gold medal in Manipur Mega Marathon 2022 and two silver medals in Northeast Olympic Games 2022 .

IGAR (East) Major General VK Nambiar, SM, VSM, DIG, 22 Sector accompanied by Brig Bikram Saini, SM, VSM visited the residence of the local athlete who is presently staying at Vakho (New Karong) village.

The army officers assured to look into new recruitment slated for August this year for the young lad through sports quota and asked the energetic youth to stay fit as well as to take care of his health.

The young athlete, including his parents, expressed gratitude to the army officers for their concern.
