Imphal, September 05 2021: A grocery shop in Changangei Mayai Leikai in Imphal West district was gutted by fire in the wee hours of Saturday.

Reportedly, the fire was discovered late by the people and the team from Manipur Fire Services could not save the shop.

Goods worth around Rs 3 lakh had been consumed by the fire.

The grocery shop belonged to one Ayekpam Ongbi Bijeta, w/o A Tondon and there is still no clarity on what sparked the fire.

Some locals have expressed suspicion that the case might be of arson.
