Imphal, May 29 2010:
Troops of 22 Grenadiers seized 6.9 kg of opium from a suspected drug trafficker at Phaisanjang village of Chandel district on May 27 .
According to a press release issued by PRO Hqs IGAR (S), the arrested person disclosed that the value of the seized opium in Myanmar is Rs 15 lakhs.
The person has been handed over to Imphal PS.
In another incident, the press release said, troops of the same unit recovered a twin cylindrical pressure IED from 50 m west of International Border at pineapple farm of Chandel district.
The 500-gm IED was destroyed at the site, the press release added.
