National Sports University Manipur celebrates 5th foundation day

Sujata Chaturvedi (IAS), Secretary (Sports) Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India has expressed that Manipur will soon witness the presence of a world class sports university.
She made the above statement while speaking as the chief guest at the 5th foundation day celebration of National Sports University, Manipur held at Khuman Lampak Sports complex today.
Vice-Chancellor of the varsity RC Mishra; Youth Affairs and Sports (YAS) Principal Secretary SS Chhabra and Olympians P Nilakamal, Kshetrimayum Thoiba, Ngangbam Sonia Chanu and Sushila Likmabam also attended the programme as the presidium members.
She expressed contentment to see the speedy progress of the construction of the permanent campus of the National Sports University at Koutruk.
While maintaining that the permanent campus is being constructed at a beautiful location filled with greenery, she said that the State soon will see the existence of a world class sports university which will become the breeding ground of many future Olympic stars.
Stating that the Prime Minister's promise of a National Sports University in the State has become a reality now, she advised the team and faculty of the varsity to start taking up strict measures regarding its development in the coming years.
Sujata Chaturvedi also highlighted the importance of knowing the latest trends about global sports development.
The Olympians who were present at the event and the outstanding students of the academic year 2021-22 of the varsity were honoured during the programme.
A souvenir was also released and many cultural performances enthralled the gathering.
