Kangpokpi, August 03 2023:
Marking 90 days since violence erupted in Manipur, Kuki people across Kangpokpi district under the aegis of Kangpokpi District Tribal Churches Leaders Fellowship prayed together for the fruition of their demand for separate administration at the earliest.
The mass prayer service was held at Brig M Thomas Ground, Kangpokpi joined by various Kuki prominent leaders, church leaders, intellectuals, civil society organizations leaders, social workers etc.
The main prayer point according to the Kangpokpi District Tribal Churches Leaders Fellowship, was for the success of the Kuki people's demand for separate administration.
Many prominent leaders such as Ch Ajang Khongsai, president, Kuki Inpi Manipur; Lunthang Haokip, vice chairman, CoTU; Dr S Chongloi, human rights activist; Hahat Touthang, president, Kuki Women Organization for Human Rights and others including church leaders spoke on the occasion.
At least three prayer sessions were held during the five-hour-long mass prayer event with various prayer points.
Crowd contribution in cash and kind was also held for the cause of the Kuki people.
Rev D V Sitlhou, advisor, Kangpokpi District Tribal Churches Leaders Fellowship prayed for divine protection, protection of the Central Government and solution in the form of separate administration for the Kuki people.
He also sought the help of churches across the globe through prayers during such trying times.
Tributes were also paid to the Kuki people who lost their lives in the conflict.
The names and photos of the deceased persons were put up so people could pay their respects.
Various prominent Kuki gospel artists also enthralled the crowd with gospel songs during the event.
