MS commends role of JNIMS relief committee

While pointing out that the hospital authority has facilitating free of cost treatment to those injured in the ethnic clash since May 3, JNIMS medical superintendent (MS) Dr Kh Lokeshwar commended Relief Committee JNIMS for taking good care of the injured people.
Addressing the media in connection with completion of three months' activities of JNIMS Relief Committee at JNIMS on Thursday, Dr Lokeshwor said that JNIMS as a tertiary care hospital has been providing free treatment to people injured during the course of the ethnic violence with the pro-actively involvement and support of the Relief Committee.
Informing that 273 (in patient), 214 (in casualty) and 240 people (relief camp) were treated by the hospital since outbreak of the violence, he further said that out of the 92 pregnant women from the violence-affected areas admitted in the hospital, 71 have also delivered babies with the remaining still in the hospital.
Urging those in relief camps to furnish health-cards (CMHT/PMJAY) at the time of hospital admission to avoid expenditure from personal sources, Dr Lokeshwar also advised management team of relief camps and nodal officers to help prepare health card for the people displaced.
According to Relief Committee JNIMS chairman Bon Khurai, a new regulation will be implemented from August 7 so as to ensure efficient treatment to patients staying in relief camps and urged relief camp nodal officer or medical officer to furnish names and contact numbers to the committee of those seeking treatment at JNIMS.
In all, 1070 people have been treated at JNIMS till Thursday with 25 said to be in ward awaiting recovery.
N Franky (21), who sustained bullet injury on May 28 at Sugnu, and a 10-year old girl kidney patient from Leimaram, whose house was set ablaze by Kuki militants, are among those undergoing treatment at JNIMS.
The girl's father passed away on June 16.Moreover, Katagong Gangmei (27), who sustained bullet injury at Rengpang under Noney is also getting treatment at JNIMS, he added.
He urged relief camp organisers and government officials to provide livelihood opportunities to the displaced people and further exhorted the people to use the products made by the displaced people sheltering in relief camp.
Bon Khurai further appealed to doctors and medical representatives to provide sample medicines to the Relief Committee.
Lauding all those who helped the committee and relief camps, he further urged to continue helping the relief camps.
