Over the demand to release three employees of the PHED who have been lodged in jail and the implementation of the Central 6th Pay Commission in toto, employees of PHED, PWD and IFCD have threatened to launch various intense agitations including stopping the water supply indefinitely.
After the first phase of the agitation during which the employees of PHED, PWD and IFCD staged a walk out from their respective office rooms, the agitating employees have started mass sit-in-protest in front of the PWD office complex from today.
In support of the cease work strike being spearheaded by the Joint Adminitrative Council (JAC) of AMTUC and AMGEO in pursuance of the demand for implementing Central 6th Pay recommendation in toto, employees of PHED snapped the water supply to the people on March 13 last.
In this connection, three employees namely G Tomba Sharma, Md Siraj and Loken were arrested.
and lodged in the jail.
Participating in the sit-in-protest demonstration held in front of PWD office complex today, general secretary of PHED Workers and Employees' Organisation N Nanao informed that the Department would stop supplying water to the people indefinitely if the demand for releasing the arrested employees and the implementation of the Central 6th Pay Commission in toto are not considered.
Nanao asserted that three employees who are being lodged in the jail are in a very pathetic situation.
Loken is an employee who has liver problem and also suffers from hypertension.
Md Siraj is an employees who have lost the fingers of his right hand.
While G Tomba Sharma is a religious person who does not take his meal without his daily oblation.
So, his family members have been send food from his house all these days.
But the jail authority has put restriction on bringing any more food for him from today.
Nanao also pointed out that agitation of stopping water supply to the people which was launched on March 13 had been lifted in consideration of the difficulties faced by the people.
