19 held for setting trucks on fire

Imphal, July 16 2023:
The Police Control Room (PCR) in its daily news bulletin today informed that nineteen persons were apprehended by Imphal West District Police in connection with the torching of three empty trucks at Awang Sekmai Mayai Leikai Lampak, Imphal West yesterday.
They were produced before the Duty Magistrate, Imphal West today and seventeen were remanded to police custody for 4 days while two were referred to Juvenile Justice Board.
The PCR report added that raids are being continued to arrest other accused persons.
As per the report, some other notable developments in the last 24 hours include dismantling of seven bunkers during search operations conducted by the State Police and Central forces in both valley and hill areas; recovery of two arms and nine ammunition during operations launched by the police and Central forces at Phaileng area in Kangpokpi district; recovery of 12 magazines and 25 ammunition in Heirok area during search operations conducted by District Police Thoubal and sporadic incidents of firing and congregation of unruly mobs in some places.
Further, the PCR release stated that a total of 124 checkpoints were installed in different districts of Manipur, both in the hill and the valley and police detained 586 persons in connection with different violations in various districts of the State.
Movement of essential items is ensured along NH-37 and NH-2 .
Strict security measures have been taken up in all vulnerable locations and security convoys are provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of all vehicles, the PCR informed.
