Piggery training prog for camp inmates ends

The certificate distribution function for a three-day training programme on pig rearing under Skill Development Programme, organised by Imphal East district administration in association with District Veterinary Office Imphal East and Thongju Kendra Relief Committee, for displaced people from Moreh and Churachandpur staying at Akampat relief camp was held on Sunday.
Speaking at the valedictory function, District Veterinary Office joint director Dr L Arunkumar informed that the programme was conducted as per strict instructions to organise piggery and poultry farming for inmates of various relief camps.
Of the 700 inmates staying in the Akampat relief camp, around 168 participated in the training programme for pig farming, while 120 of them were trained in poultry farming.
From Monday onward, piggery and poultry training programme will commence for relief camp set up in Heingang Kangjeibung, the joint director announced, adding that the Veterinary Department is conduct similar training programmes for the displaced people residing in 35 relief camps in Imphal East district.
Trainees who have received the certificates will be given priority with regard to any related scheme taken up by the department, he conveyed.
A trainee from Churachandpur Khuga Tampak identified as Rajen Huirom appreciated the local MLA for his support and efforts to make aware the relief camp inmates of the various schemes/benefits of the state and central governments.
Later, experts from the Department explained to the trainees how to earn a stable income through pig farming.
