CAF & PD Director clarifies

Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution (CAF&PD) Director Robertson Asem has issued clarification on media report about suspected food adulteration in rice supplied under NFSA.
Speaking to media persons at the DIPR auditorium at Nityaipat Chuthek today, he said that rice supplied under NFSA are fortified rice and added that essential vitamins and minerals are added to the grains to enhance the nutritious value during the fortification process.
As per the guidelines of the Government of India, the main objective of NFSA is to increase the nutritious value, he said and shared a helpline number of 1967 to clarify any issue related to CAF & PD.
On the other hand, Robertson appealed to all beneficiaries to lodge a complaint to the website "CM da Haisi" if they have any along with the details of the FPS agent to initiate any inquiry.
To a query, the CAF&PD Director said that the State currently has a stock of 35,800 MT on rice and it will last for another two-three months.
He further stated that there is no halt on lifting rice from Jiribam side through National Highway 37 .
Continuing that distribution of rice for June is almost completed, he said that preparation is on to start distributing rice for July to the
beneficiaries.
