Villagers block road over shabby condition

Imphal, January 11 2023: Irate villagers of Keibi came out in large numbers and blocked the Sawombung-Sagolmang road stretching around 12 km which has been reportedly left unattended since the Congress rule in the state, on Wednesday.

The road block agitation was, however, called off following an understanding reached between the agitators and the officials of public works department (PWD) who assured of repairing the road by January 15 .

Agitators informed media persons that the road stretch has been left in its worst condition since the time of Congress rule in the state despite formation of joint action committees and submission of numerous memorandums to the authority concerned.

Since the JAC has gone into a slumber after the government gave assurance a long time back, the villagers came out and blocked the road demanding immediate repairing of the road, they reasoned.
