Awangbow Newmai leads mass vaccination drive at Makui village

Kangpokpi, July 14 2021: Forest and Environment Minister Awangbow Newmai on Tuesday led a mass vaccination drive organised as part of the Van Mahotsav celebration at Makui village, Kangpokpi district.

The vaccination drive was organised by 44 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ 22 Sector Assam Rifles.

The programme was attended by Awangbow Newmai and Namsinrei Panmei, Chairman ADC, Tamenglong as the presidium members.

Speaking on the occasion, Awangbow Newmai stated that the importance of oxygen was only realised during the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic and urged the gathering to take a pledge to plant at least 7 tree saplings in a year.

The Forest Minister also thanked the 44 Assam Rifles for their initiative and concern during this pandemic for the people of Makui and surrounding villages.

The Minister also inaugurated the Forest Rest House and planted tree saplings.

DFO Kangpokpi, Chingphilhing Kipgen; 44 Assam Rifles Commandant, Pradeep Kumar; N Silakbou, Chairman Makui village; R Dikhampibou, Pastor Liangchi Baptist Church; CSOs, youth and women society also attended the programme.

Moreover, Awangbow Newmai also visited PHC T Vaichong and met with the health workers.

Seeing the deplorable condition of the health center which caters to more than 72 villages, he assured to donate two D-Type cylinders and to discuss with the concerned Minister and relevant authorities to provide an Ambulance and solar panels for the smooth functioning of the PHC.

Awangbow Newmai also inaugurated and dedicated one hanging bridge, football ground and water reservoir, a long cherished dream for the people of Louthang village in Tuilang area, Tamenglong district.

During the inauguration programme, he assured the villagers to provide his assistance in all possible ways and urged the people not to cut trees recklessly.

He also distributed blankets to the senior citizens, church leaders, women society, CSOs of Makui, Lasan, Songpibung and Louthang village.

The Minister also inaugurated the Lansan Primary School and Lansan Sports ground in Tamei Subdivision.

He further interacted with the villagers of Lasan and Songpibung village and urged them to come forward for Covid vaccination.

Later, the Minister also inaugurated the Songpibung village playground, constructed under the MLA-LAD fund in the presence of ADC Chairman Tamenglong, Namsinrei Panmei.
