Senapati, December 15 2022: 20-year-old Shereinai Bliss of Senapati district was crowned Miss Barak 2022 on Wednesday.

The Miss Barak contest was held on the closing day of the 2-day 3rd State Level Barak Festival at Senapati district.

The event was graced by MAHUD Minister Y Khemchand Singh as chief guest.

Ng Shereinai Bliss was crowned the Miss Barak 2022 with Thonjiliu Abonmei and Jianreiliu Gonmei as the 1st and 2nd runner up.

Ng Shereinai Bliss hails from Keize village in Senapati district and presently resides at National Games Village, Imphal.

The 20-year-old aspires to become a civil servant.

She is pursuing BSc (Hons) (5th Semester) in Chemistry at Dhanamanjuri University, Imphal.

She was crowned Miss Dhanamanjuri University in 2021 and was also among the top 10 finalists of the Miss Shirui Lily contest.

1st runner up, Thonjiliu Abonmei hails from Nallong village in Tamenglong district.

She has a Master's degree and aspires to become a Professor.

Jianreiliu Gonmei hails from Nungba sub-division in Noney district.

She is pursuing Master's degree (1st Semester) at Dhanamanjuri University.

She was crowned 1st runner up in the Miss Dhanamanjuri University, 2020-21 and she had also won Miss Beautiful Smile in the past.

Shoibam Sushima Devi bagged the title of the Best Catwalk, T Dorothy Maram bagged title of Beautiful Skin, Keisham Casper bagged the Best Designer title, Athisa Thangal bagged Beautiful Hair title and Babina Thokchom bagged Beautiful Smile title.

A total of 18 contestants competed in the Miss Barak 2022 pageant.

The contestants shared their ideas and the need to protect the Barak River and the environment.

Earlier, Kayia Florence, general secretary, Senapati District Women's Association in her welcome address stated that Miss Barak pageant has come a long way over the years.

She mentioned that Miss Barak pageant has helped groom women to become ambassadors of peace and compete on bigger stages including Miss Manipur and in other stages beyond the State.

Speaking as the chief guest, MAHUD (Municipal Administration, Housing and Urban Development) Minister Y Khemchand Singh talked about the motto of the festival-"Save Mother Earth" and called on the youth to show unity and hard work.

Coming from a big family of 10 siblings, the Minister said all children do not grow up to their satisfaction.

He had many struggles during his student life.

With hardwork and determination, he got into the sport of Taekwondo and won a National gold medal.

He was also selected to represent India at the world championship.

One shouldn't get discouraged because of a poor family background.

Hard work, determination and courage to face hardships will launch one to become successful, the Minister said adding he never dreamt of becoming an elected Member of the Legislative Assembly.

Life's destiny is unpredictable, he said.
