World Hospice and Palliative Care Day observed

The Palliative Care Society Imphal (PCSI) observed World Hospice and Palliative Care Day (WHPCD) 2023 with a heart-warming display of compassion at a relief camp in Wangjing Kodompokpi Sports Complex, in Thoubal district today.
The relief camp provides shelter to 727 displaced individuals from Moreh, including those grappling with conditions like Rectal Cancer, Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD), Cirrhosis, Asthma, Cerebral Palsy, and Mental Retardation.
The theme of WHPCD 2023 "Compassionate Communities: United for Palliative Care," underscores its annual global endeavour to commemorate and provide support for hospice and palliative care.

In alignment with this theme, the members of the Palliative Care Society Imphal (PCSI) united and made generous contributions to celebrate and bolster hospice and palliative care within the community.
During the event, the team distributed blankets to elderly inmates and presented a substantial monetary donation, provided by PCSI members, to the relief camp's organizing committee.
Dr Ksh Manglem Singh, President of PCSI; Dr N Subodha, Secretary of PCSI, and Dr Nandan Chaudhary, Joint Secretary of PCSI, addressed the audience, emphasizing the importance of palliative care.
The event was attended by dedicated PCSI team members including Ellendra Thoudam; Dr Y Premchandra; Dr L Tilakeswari; Khoirom Roger; Laishram Sanatombi among others, who showed their unwavering support for the cause.
Dr Nandan Chaudhary also offered consultations to patients and individuals in need of palliative care.
Palliative Care Society, Imphal (PCSI) was formed by a group of enthusiastic volunteers on 16th April 2015.The society aims to relieve suffering and improve the quality of life for patients with advanced disease and their families through compassion and quality care.
It also strives to provide the physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and social needs of patients and families by serving those who need palliative care through home care services.
PCSI remains committed to the compassionate care of individuals in need and continues to be a beacon of hope in the community.
