KYKL member arrested, search ops conducted

Imphal, October 14 2023: In an operation conducted on Saturday around 6:10 PM, commando personnel of Imphal West apprehended an active member of the proscribed UG group KYKL.

Police report stated that the arrest took place at Singjamei supermarket and the individual has been identified as Karam Satrajit (45) son of K Chaoba of Chajing Karam Awang Leikai.

During questioning, Satrajit revealed his involvement with KYKL since June this year, He joined the outfit through an individual named Robert who is currently in Myanmar.

He also disclosed his role in demanding substantial sum of money from private establishments and the general public as outfit's fund on orders of his commander.

The CDO team seized one 9mm pistol marked as "Beretta USA Corp" along with magazine loaded with 7 live rounds, one mobile phone, Rs 60,000 in cash, and a wallet containing an Aadhaar card.

The arrested individual, along with the seized articles, has been handed over to Singjamei police station for further necessary legal action.

Meanwhile, a joint team of Kakching CDO, SDPO Sugnu and D company of 136 battalion BSE carried out search operation in Tangjeng Khunjao and Tangjeng Mangjin areas in Kakching district on Saturday and recovered three .303 rifles along with magazine and two local made pipe bombs from a nearby hill.

The seized arms and ammunition have been handed over to Sugnu police station.
