PPCM cautions against price hike

While pointing out that the ethnic conflict since May 3 is causing serious inconveniences to the people, Protection & Preservation Committee, Manipur (PPCM) has asked shop owners not to hike prices of essential commodities taking undue advantage of the unrest situation.
Further advising the traders to display price list in front of their shops, PPCM convenor S Brojendro said in a Statement that shop owners should not sell expired items and use faulty weight measuring balance.
Informing that PPCM members urged shop keepers around Khwairamband not to increase the price of essential commodities, he pleaded all concerned to respect the appeal of PPCM, to avoid occurrence of unwanted issues triggered by arbitrary price hike taking undue advantages of the situation.
Departments concerned should also look into the matter and take necessary steps to check hiking of prides of essential commodities, he stressed and appealed to the public to contact PPCM members on mobile numbers 9615434961, 9366813406, 8119058601, 7085150972 or 878735672 if shopkeepers were found indulging in unethical trade practices.
