Imphal, August 30 2023:
Assam Rifles has strongly refuted the allegation levelled by one Bobbi from Singda Kadangband Part-I that the paramilitary force restricted the local volunteers from defending the village with their own licensed guns on August 25 .
In a rebuttal, PRO IGAR (S) said that since deployment of the 22 Assam Rifles in Kangchup area on request of the state administration, dedicated efforts of the battalion resulted in peace in the area.
Stating that the Manipur Rifles are deployed for the purpose of security in close proximity to the village, the PRO clarified that Assam Rifles troops neither interacted with the village volunteers of Kadangband on the night of August 25 nor did they restrict them as alleged in the news report.
Such false allegations on Assam Rifles purely indicate the malafied intentions of certain vested interest groups to defame the organisation, the rebuttal said while expressing concern over the unverified and baseless allegations made by such people and groups.
