Arms, ammos seized in operations

Joint security forces seized several arms and ammunition during search operation conducted in different parts of Imphal West, Imphal East and Thoubal districts in the last two days.
Police sources said that a joint team of Imphal West CDO led by Sekmai PS OC inspector Ng Johnson, one column of 4 Assam Rifles and another column of 165 Territorial Army carried out operation on Tingri Chambirol hill range under Imphal West district and seized several arms and ammunition from Chambirok area on Wednesday.
The seized arms and ammunition included eight HE grenades without detonator, 10 tube launching 1A, two lethod shells, one M16 assault rifle (serial number filed off) along with a magazine, one single barrel gun, one 9mm pistol (serial number filed off), one .22 pistol, one empty magazine of INSAS Rifles, one magazine of INSAS LMG, one Chinese hand grenade, seven 7.62 mm bullets, 16 AK series bullets, eight INSAS bullets, and six grenade rings from there.
On Tuesday, a joint team of Thoubal district police led by ASP (Ops) and 33 Assam Rifles, Somrei unit launched a search operation near Irong village under Nongpok Sekmai police station in which 20 live rounds of 5.56 mm, four HE 36 grenades, three tube launchers and one Chinese hand grenade were recovered.
Teams of 33 Assam Rifles also seized one 9mm pistol with eight live rounds, two Chinese hand grenades, six HE 36 grenades, three grenade detonators, three packages containing 10 PEK each along with 10 metre cordex, five tear gas shells, one smoke bomb, and one Kenwood set from Kamu ridge area under Andro police station.
The seized arms and ammunition have been handed over to Andro police station.
