Imphal, August 30 2023:
Uripok Nupi Apunba Lup (UNAL), which was formed by 52 Meira Paibi groups in Uripok AC, celebrated its 9th foundation day at Imphal Public Library, Uripok Sorbon Thingel, here, on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, UNAL general secretary Chongtham Ibetombi informed that 47 clubs and 52 Meira Lups in Uripok AC have been taking active role on different issues of Manipur and will continue to do so.
The foundation day is being celebrated to take the opportunity of discussing the future course of movement for bringing an end to the present conflict in the state.
People's expectation that a resolution will be taken to resolve the conflict despite convening the state assembly for only a day was shattered, she said, while condemning the government for not conducting a proper assembly session.
She further urged to call another assembly session so to take a resolution for ending the conflict at the earliest.
Ibetombi also denounced imposition of economic blockade along National Highway No 2 even though the court had issued restriction on imposing economic blockade.
It is unfortunate that the government has failed to take any action against those who are imposing the economic blockade.
UNAL will also launch protest against the economic blockade, she cautioned.
The foundation day celebration was attended by Uripok Apunba Lup president Soram Tiken as chief guest, UNAL president Potshangbam Jayshree as president and United Club Uripok ward no.4 president Khwairakpam Tarun as guest of honour.
