A delegation of JD-U Manipur led by its president Kshetrimayum Biren along with the party's national leader Nitish Kumar would be meeting President, Prime Minister and union home minister with an appeal to flush out illegal immigrants from the state.
Interacting with the media during a lunch pro-gramme with displaced peo-ple seeking refuge in the relief camp at Biramangol College, Sawombung under Lamlai assembly constit-uency on Saturday, Biren confided that the party has been in touch with the national leaders since the violence broke out on May 3.While informing that the JD- U was expecting the Amit Shah to make some significant announced as per the people's wish the union home minister failed to clear the apprehension of the public and their key demands for terminating Suspension of Operation (So0) agreement with Kuki militants, and flushing out illegal migrants.
Though Amit Shah re-flected on some of the de-mands raised by the party, his overall response was not satisfactory and as such, JD -U will place the demand to the President, Prime Min-ister and union home min-ister during their visit in the national capital, he said.
Biren said that without any directives from the Centre, the central forces deployed in the state can do nothing against the Kuki militants.
However, the Centre needs to be reminded how the Kuki militants are violating the ground rules of SoO, he said.
The former MLA also stressed the need for pro-vide basic livelihood sup-port to the displaced people apart from special packages for their rehabilitation and resettlement and further informed that he will vis-it other camps to enquire about well-beings of the displaced people.
He also provided financial assistance to the committee managing the relief camp.
