MAHUD minister Yumnam Khemchand, Sugnu MLA Kangujam Ranjit, Hiyanglam MLA Dr Yunman Radheshyam, Wabagai MLA Dr Usham Deben and Kakching MLA.
M Rameshwar visited vi-olence-hit Sugnu area and met people affected by the conflict on Sat - urday.
The team of legislators led by minister Khem-chand first met people protesting against As-sam Rifles and received a five-point memoran-dum.
The memorandum demanded removal of 37 Assam Rifles from Sugnu, strengthening manpower of Sugnu police station, opening of police out-posts at Serou, Serou Lamkhai and Napat - Sug - nu junction.
After hearing complaints and receiving memorandum from the protestors, min-ister Khemchand instantly contacted chief minister N Siren and informed the pub-lic that process to remove 37 AR from Sugnu has started and additional state force will be deployed in Sugnu area.
Though minister Khem-chand and MLA Dr Y Rad-heshyam returned to their respective homes in the evening, local MLA K Ranjit along with MLAs Dr Deben and Rameshwar are still in Sugnu after people told them to personally experience ground reality.
Meanwhile, heavy ex-change of fire between sus-pected Kuki militants and state forces resumed from 8pm Saturday and the fight-ing continued till the time of filing this report.
Security escorts of three MLAs have joined the gunfight.
Reports have also been received of a gunfight in Serou area.
