Imphal, June 03 2023:
Maintaining that Ma-nipur resembles a govern-ment - less state where every-thing is in chaos, Citizen for Justice chairperson Khaidem Mani claimed that the present status of Manipur is imposition of de facto President's Rule with chief minister N Biren under unofficial 'house arrest'.
Addressing media persons at Old Assembly Road here on Saturday, Khaidem Mani said that we cannot remain satisfied with the assurance given by Union Home minister Amit Shah that the territorial integrity of Manipur will not be compromised.
Neither Amit Shah nor the government of India can destroy Manipur's territorial integrity though the Indian Parliament can do so.
He further informed that the situation in Manipur is no different from imposition of President's Rule as the chief minister's operational ambit has been curtailed.
The unified command which is supposed to be under the chairmanship chief minister has been handed over to security advisor Kuld-iep Singh, Mani pointed out.
He also described as inevita-ble that the DGP has been re-placed while stating that a joint secretary will be appointed by the centre above the chief secretary and five directors of the central government will be sent in the state to take out charge of the ministers.
Khaidem Mani further stat-ed that the act of AR personnel blocking the gates of Sugnu police station and the SDPO is concrete evidence that the AR personnel are covertly supporting the armed Kuki militants bound by suspension of operation (SoO) agreement.
The AR personnel are acting as terrorists and against the law of the land.
As such there is need to ponder over what actions can be taken up against the AR personnel though there is report of FIR lodged against them.
Khaidem Mani also en-quired as to why process is on to take action against the 10 Kuki MLAs by the Ethics and Privilege Committee of the Manipur State Assembly but no such move is visible against the 7 BJP MLAs by the party.
FIR or sou moto case can be initiated against the 7 MLAs, he added.
The press conference was also attended by Citizen for Justice vice chairperson Nou - tuneshwori, convenor A Gau-tam and other members.
