MLA Shyam concerned over senior officers' attitude

Imphal, October 23 2022: Tourism Corporation of Manipur Limited (TCML) chairman and Langthabal MLA Karam Shyam has expressed concern over the attitude of some senior officials of government departments who show no interest in attending events related with achievement of entrepreneurs, and said that such attitude will discourage emerging entrepreneurs of the state.

The MLA was attending the opening ceremony of an Artificial Insemination Laboratory for Pigs at Luker Mamang Leikai on Sunday.

The laboratory set up by Keithellakpam Private Limited is the first of its kind in the state and third in the northeast.

Speaking on the occasion, Karam Shyam maintained that encouragement and support are important factors for any individual or organisation or company to flourish.

There are several emerging entrepreneurs in the state, whose works could spur economic development in the state, and department officials need to encourage them.

Unfortunately, there are some senior officials, who have no such inclination and they need to change their mindsets.

The need for change is also same for the politicians, he opined.

While pointing out that emerging and successful entrepreneurs are important catalysts to motivate the common people, who want to take up their own ventures, he described as shameful for the officers under the state government not to attend such initiative of a young woman while an officer posted in Shillong has come all the way to the state to attend the programme.

Guests in certain public function are invited after taking approval from the individual concerned and failure to attend such event tantamount to display of irresponsible attitude of the individual.

Elected public representatives and officers should understand their responsibilities towards the public and the society, he said.

Despite being a young woman, the works of Pipi Keithellakpam is commendable.

She has become a role model for the people of the state, especially women.

Elected public representatives and government officers need to visit and encourage such people, support them in order to motivate others as well.

The story and endeavour of Pipi Keithellakpam is a slap on the vagabonds in the society, who find excuse over alleged lack of resources and spend their lives in leisure instead of doing something useful, he said.

He further said that he might be elected by the people of Langthabal assembly constituency but his area of work is not confined to his AC alone.

Pipi's farm is in Luker and she is not only bringing up Luker as a model village but also motivating the people of the surrounding villages to take up such entrepreneurial works.

Luker residents should stand by her side and face any disturbances caused to her endeavour, he said.

The MLA also emphasised on the importance of believing in self and working for the welfare of the society.

Keithellakpam Private Limited director Pipi Keithellakpam said that the facility was opened to help pig farmers of the state.

She urged farmers as well as anybody who wants to adopt piggery to feel free to contact her if they have any doubt or want information regarding piggery.

Lamsang MLA Sorokhaibam Rajen and CSIR-NEIST senior principal scientist Dr Huidrom Birkumar also attended the programme.
