College hosts voter education prog

S Kula Women's College, Nambol organised a one-day Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme (ICOP) on Systematic Voter's Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) on Monday.
Presided over by College principal Dr W Robindro, the event had political science department's assistant professor Ch Komolini, who is also the nodal officer of the Electoral Literacy Club of the college, as resource person, elaborating on online voter registration services provided by the Election Commission of India, particularly emphasising the significance for citizens who attain the age of 18 on specific dates throughout the year.
She elucidated the process of enrolling as a general voter and filling in Form 6 online via the National Voters' Service Portal.
Furthermore, she highlighted ethical and informed role of citizens in electing representatives, especially targeting first-time voters.
The session also covered topics such as Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT), the responsibilities of presiding officers, and the essence of democracy.
An engaging on-the-spot quiz contest was also held followed by distribution of prizes and certificates.
Certificates of participation were also distributed among participants.
Adding vibrancy to the event, a cultural show was presented by the private registered troupe of CBC, RO, Imphal, namely M/s Sanakhuthek.
Sociology department's assistant professor Dr S Bhogendro also attended the event among others.
