Displaced Monbung villagers return home

In all, 43 villagers of Monbung, who fled their homes due to the unrest situation in the state and took shelter at the relief camp set up at Children Home, Harinagar here, returned to their village on Saturday.
Speaking to media persons, the villagers thanked student organisations, CSOs, district administration, 39 Assam Rifles, central security forces and district police for their help and support during their stay at the relief camp.
The villagers also observed that though they are eager to return home, they fear outbreak of violence anytime and thus, urged authorities concerned to deploy security forces within the village area in adequate strength.
It may be mentioned that the relief camp had 54 displaced people out of.
whom 43 were escorted to Monbung village by 39 AR while 11 from Babukhal village were transferred to relief camp set up at Bidyanagar Sports Complex, where villagers from Babukhal, Boroikhal and Chingkoipung are also staying.
Meanwhile, SDC Devananda Moirangthem under the supervision of the deputy commissioner visited the relief camp at Bidyanagar Sports Complex on Saturday.
During the visit, the SDC inspected condition and needs of the relief camp presently housing 60 displaced people.
