Suresh Huidrom, the principal designer of Huidrom Design Studio, said: "Winning India's Best Design Award 2023 for creativity & innovative interior design is another significant milestone for our studio" .
Huidrom Design Studio, under his visionary guidance, is internationally renowned for its avant-garde concepts, expressive narratives, and design ingenuity.
The inception of The Classic Rita Cafe was rooted in a profound vision - to offer locally sourced interior design, sustainable and organic foods, along with indigenous snacks to the community.
The overarching goal was to create a space that not only invigorates and educates locals and guests about healthy food sources but also raises awareness, inspiring individuals to embrace healthy, active, and social lifestyles.
The design philosophy of The Classic Rita Cafe was to embody a sense of being immersed in nature.
This was artfully achieved through the thoughtful use of natural elements such as mud/clay pots, natural wood, thatched roofing with bamboo counters, and an earthy colour scheme.
The endeavour was to seamlessly integrate the cafe with nature, providing visitors with a space that feels natural and harmoniously connected to the environment.
The core of the design aims to maximise the sense of spaciousness and acoustic effect, achieved through an astonishing array of 1400 local clay pots suspended from the ceiling.
These handcrafted pots, meticulously created by Manipuri widow, not only illuminated the space but also uplifted the spirits and perspectives of all who experienced the cafe.
