Women commission petitioned to probe Linthoingambi case

Urging the commission to take up sou motu case and deliver justice to the brutally killed student Linthoingambi as done in the case of two Kuki women paraded naked in public, Lukmai Sellup has approached the National Commission for Women with a formal written complaint.
Informing about approaching the Comission to media persons at Manipur Press Club, here, on Saturday, Lukmai Sellup secretary Asem Nirmala said that the entire people of the state were shocked and filled with emotions when photos of two students namely Linthoingambi and Hemanjit, who went missing since July 6, emerged on social media.
Among the two victims, Linthoingambi was not only a girl but also a minor student and the heinous crime committed against her as depicted in the viral photos astonished the people more.
When the video of two Kuki women went viral, the National Commission for Women and state women commission took up sou motu cases without waiting complaint from anyone.
However, no case has been taken up regarding the brutal killing of Linthoingambi till date and this compelled Lukmai Sellup to approach the National Commission for Women for bringing out truth and deliver justice, Nirmala said, adding that a similar complaint will be lodged to the state women commission as well.
Nirmala also declared that Lukmai Sellup will not celebrate Ningol Chakkouba this year in view of suffering of thousands of women due to the present conflict.
