Imphal, October 07 2023:
The youth of Lamlai AC held a meeting at Irawat Memorial Hall, Chalou on Saturday.
The meeting was also attended by the local MLA Khongbantabam Ibomcha, to whom the youth submitted the resolutions adopted during the meeting.
Regarding the meeting, one Dickson Moirangthem said that the resolutions included demand for removal of central forces deployed in Sabungkhok within five days or deploying them alongside with state forces.
The other resolutions include arranging adequate security to allow displaced people living in relief camps to return to their respective homes within 15 days, no arrest of village volunteers, dismantling all bunkers set up in Kuki villages located in the periphery of Lamlai constituency, and for the local MLA to support the chief minister in taking over the unified command, he informed, while adding that the meeting is not linked to any organisation or political party.
MLA Ibomcha lauded the youth for organising the meeting, while urging all concerned to support one another at this hour of crisis instead of turning against each other and allowing our "enemies" to celebrate our disunity.
He continued that everyone is aware of the suffering and sacrifices made by village volunteers and mothers in this conflict.
As such, the focus should be on identifying who the true enemies are to prevent further escalation of the conflict.
He further said that people are now able to return to the peripheral areas and the displaced people have been provided with temporary houses due to the efforts of the government.
Thus, we must stop turning against each other, he stressed, while appealing to all concerned to stop trying to take political advantage of the situation.
One can dabble in politics after the conflict, the MLA suggested.
