SHGs urged to join MSRLM to receive central funds

Pointing out that Union ministry of rural development do not provide direct funding to self-help groups (SHGs) which are not registered under Manipur State Rural Livelihood Mission (MSRLM), MSRLM director N Bandana urged women SHGs of the state to get affiliated with the Mission so that the Union ministry can extend support to them.
Speaking as chief guest at the valedictory function of a 30-day Skill cum Vocational Training Programmes for Rejuvenating Livelihoods of Inmates in Relief Camps under Imphal West district of Manipur and Farmers/Inmate-Scientist Interaction held at ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region Manipur Centre, Lamphelpat on Tuesday, N Bandana expressed remorse that people who have been displaced due to the current crisis have lost their livelihood as most of them are taking refuge in various relief camps.
Therefore, it will be very helpful if the relief camp inmates participate in short term courses for skill development so that they can have more options for earning livelihood, she observed.
The programme jointly organised by ICAR Research Complex-Manipur Centre, ICAR-KVKs (Chandel, Churachandpur, Imphal West, Tamenglong & Ukhrul), MSRLM and Imphal West district administration was also attended by ICAR research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya director Dr VK Mishra; principal scientist & head (DFAS) Dr Sandeep Ghatak; ICAR Research Complex-Manipur principal scientist & nodal officer (Seed) Dr I Meghachandra Singh; and regional centre head Dr Ramgopal Laha as presidium members.
During the valedictory function, the trainees who attended the programme successfully were given certificates and inputs.
