'Constitution Day' observed all over the State

Chd/Ccp/Imp/Thb, November 26 2021: As observed across the country, Constitution Day was also celebrated in the State on Friday to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh along with JP Nadda, National President BJP; Bhupender Yadav, Union Cabinet Minister and Election in-charge; Dr Sambit Patra, National spokesperson and State Prabhari; A Sharda Devi, president BJP Manipur Pradesh and Ashok Singhal, Minister and Election co in-charge, senior party functionaries and workers attended the Constitution Day observance held at Classic Grande Imphal.

CHANDEL
In line with the observance of Constitution Day and as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, District Legal Services Authority, Chandel under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) organised a walkathon and poster campaign on the theme, "Free and Fair election" at Chandel.

The walkathon was flagged off from Chandel Police Station covering around seven villages before culminating at DC Lamkhai, Chandel.

It was participated by panel lawyers, PLVs and youths of local clubs and CSOs.

Posters containing the Voter's Check List were also handed out to the public while some were put up at strategic areas of Chandel HQ.

The programme concluded with the DLSA team along with the participants reading out the Preamble of the Indian Constitution.

A Similar poster campaign was also held at Pallel and Moreh in Tengnoupal district.

CHURACHANDPUR
As part of the Constitution Day celebration, Dr George T Haokip, intending candidate for 59 Saikot (ST) Assembly Constituency on Friday led a motor rally under the theme "Respect Democracy" at Churachandpur.

It was flagged off by a differently abled person, Romeo Haokip at Peace Ground.

Several cars, autos and other taxis joined the rally which began at Peace ground and concluded at Tangnuam village.

Banners containing slogans, 'exercise your right to vote, respect democracy and the rule of law, refuse to be silenced', 'Respect for human rights is an opportunity for transformative change in people's lives', etc were displayed by the motorist throughout the rally.

IMPHAL
As per direction of NALSA, the Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) in association with DLSA Imphal West, Imphal East & Tamenglong also observed Constitution Day at Conference Hall, ADR Building, Lamphel Court Complex, Imphal.

The programme was attended by A Guneshwar Sharma, District & Sessions Judge cum chairperson, DLSA, Imphal West; RK Memcha Devi, District & Sessions Judge cum chairperson, DLSA, Imphal East; Ojesh Mutum, member secretary MASLSA; Judicial Officers, Advocates, PLVs, representatives of media houses, staff of Legal Services Institutions & Courts.

THOUBAL
As part of the Constitution Day celebration cum Special Summary Revision awareness, SVEEP Thoubal, Nehru Yuva Kendra Thoubal and NSS Units of Kha Manipur College jointly organised a Block level declamation contest at Kha Manipur College Auditorium, Kakching.

It was attended by Pukhrambam Raghu Singh, Principal of Kha Manipur College; M Sanaton Singh, HOD of Physics, Kha Manipur College; Michael Thangminlien Mate, District Youth Officer, NYK Thoubal; and Y Raju Singh, HOD of Commerce, Kha Manipur College as presidium members.

The programme began with a welcome address by K Lokendro Singh, DACYP member, NYK Thoubal, followed by mass reading of the Preamble of Indian Constitution.

Mayanglambam Romila Devi, BLO also gave awareness on Special Summary Revision to the participants.

Volunteers of NYK Thoubal also carried out Preamble Reading & Quiz competitions on the Constitution of India at various places of Thoubal and Kakching districts.

Likewise, DLSA Thoubal in collaboration with MASLSA also observed Constitution Day through Jitsi Meet.

During the programme, Binny Ngangom, Chairperson, DLSA Thoubal led the participants in reading the preamble and also encouraged the PLVs, Panel Lawyers and members of the Thoubal District Bar Association to uphold the constitution.

It was participated by Judicial Officers of Thoubal Session Division, Public Prosecutors, Panel Lawyers, members of Thoubal District Bar Association and PLVs.

Meanwhile, 44 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 22 Sector AR/ IGAR (EAST) also observed Constitution Day by reading the Preamble to the Constitution of India to reaffirm commitment to uphold and adhere to its ideology.
