Imphal, January 19:
There is no sign of the two privately run medical centres throwing open its doors to patients in the immediate future as compromise, if any, on monetary demand slapped by a banned organisation has been elusive.
Unlike in the past where-in buzz in and around Imphal Hospital & Research Centre (RIMS Road) and Langol view Clinic (Lamphel) used to be normal, the second day of shut-down was marked by closed shutters and barren look as uncertainty still prevails on when and whether the armed group would strike to force authorities of these clinics cough up the demanded amount, said to run upto multiple digits.
Even though admission/treatment of new patients have stopped at both the private medical centres, those already undergoing treatment are being looked after.
According to some nurses at the said healthcare centres, no responsible authorities turned up for the daily chores since yesterday with fear of reprisals from activists of the armed group being the obvious reason.
The 60-bedded Imphal Hospital which has ten major departments including ENT, gynaecology, surgery etc is said to be attending to medical requirements of 20 patients with eight currently staying at the 30-bedded Langol View Clinic.
An important functionary in Imphal Hospital confided that no solution could be brought about between the management and the outfit concerned.
"Since we do not want any undesired repercussion to the hospital we are compelled to close it down," he expressed while sharing that if solution continues to elude the authorities permanent closure after discharging the in-patients could not be ruled out.
The police is said to have registered suo motu cases on the matter after conducting inquiries at both the effected hospitals.
