JCILPS sets time frame to complete draft

Joint Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) has demanded the All Political Parties Forum on ILPS to complete drafting the document on implementation of ILPS or a similar law in the State under the Government by the end of this month.
The demand was made by JCILPS Co-Convenor BK Moirangcha while talking to reporters on the sidelines of a survey of non-locals, conducted at Awang Sekmai today.
He urged the All Political Parties Forum to complete drafting the document within October 30 and provide a copy of the document to JCILPS so that the civil society organisation may take the opportunity to discuss the points mentioned in the document with people.
Joint Committee on Non-Manipuris Survey Works, which has been constituted under JCILPS, conducted today's survey in association with Awang Sekmai Protection Committee and local club and Meira Paibi bodies.

A similar drive was conducted at Chingmeirong yesterday.
BK Moirangcha said that influx of non-locals, who do not possess proper identification proof documents, has created lots of controversy.
Saying that some Nagar Panchayats and Gram Panchayats are found issuing identity proof documents to non-locals, BK Moirangcha appealed to these local bodies not to do so in future.
Contending that verification surveys are being conducted at different markets for the time being, the JCILPS leader said that similar surveys would be conducted at Assembly Constituency level later.
Maintaining that it is a matter of concern that non-local street vendors have occupied a particular area at Sekmai Bazar, BK Moirangcha said that today's survey was not fruitful as the survey team did not find them at the market today.
He urged the house owners to take full particulars of the non-locals before providing rented room/house to them.
Awang Sekmai Protection Committee president Angom Rajesh said that Awang Sekmai area has witnessed a sharp rise in the population of non-locals.
Saying that they do not however intend to ask the non-locals to leave Awang Sekmai, Angom Rajesh said that today's survey was conducted in order to maintain a data of non-local population and their particulars.
