Imphal, December 18 2023:
Stating that elections define our future, Youth of Manipur (YOM) volunteer' Luwang Meitei has urged all aspiring candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha election to make their intentions and objectives clear to the people first.
In a press meet held at Singjamei Sapam Leikai here on Monday, Luwang said that every incident originates from elections.
Thus, all aspiring candidates for the Lok Sabha elections should declare their intentions to the people first so as to allow the people and YOM volunteers to discern the "good" candidates from the "bad" ones, in addition to providing a chance for an interaction with the public and the youth.
Reflecting on the usual trend of the candidates' overt display of patriotism or blacktopping roads only when elections are round the corner, Luwang urged aspiring candidates to make their intentions clear to the people especially with regard to the prevailing situation in Manipur.
Stating that YOM has never and will not engage in seeking donations or funds from the people, which is clearly printed on the ID cards of all volunteers as part of YOM's terms and conditions; Luwang informed that there are around 40,000 YOM volunteers.
The volunteers are using their own money to work for the people, he said, iterating YOM's firm belief that patriotism does not require any money.
