Imphal, June 13 2023:
Socialist Students' Union of Manipur (SSUM) contended that the ongoing ethnic violence in Manipur was triggered by Kuki militants after meticulous planning and piling up huge arms and ammunition.
According to a statement of SSUM, Meetei people snatched arms from state forces after Kuki militants repeatedly attacked and burnt their houses.
Having no option, Meetei people stormed armouries of state force to defend against attack of Kuki militants.
However, Kuki militants have been conveniently staving off aggression by the Meetei villagers particularly in the foothills which implies the fire power of Kuki militants and execution of their plan after piling up huge weapons before the violence erupted, the SSUM said adding that Meetei villagers suffered a lot as they were not prepared and anticipated armed attacks by Kuki militants.
