Imphal, June 13 2023:
Lukmai Sellup has expressed surprise over the inability of the Central Government to rein in rampaging Kuki militants despite being a big military power when Myanmar Government can easily flush them out.
Speaking to media persons at Khwairamband Keithel Number 1, secretary of Lukmai Sellup Asem Nirmala said Government of India has a lot to learn from Myanmar Government in dealing with Kuki militants who have infiltrated into the State in large numbers and been carrying out violence for over a month.
Questioning the Prime Minister's deafening silence over the crisis besieging the State for so long, she said the Prime Minister's indifferent attitude towards the Meitei community is getting clearer with each passing day.
The situation is getting more perilous with Central armed forces who have been sent to ensure safety of all communities allegedly turning their back on Meiteis amidst relentless attacks from Kuki militants from the other end, she said.
She also asked why the Government of India is unperturbed and silent even when security forces are being targeted and killed by Kuki militants.
While welcoming the State Government's move to build 4 thousand pre-fabricated houses as interim measure, she also urged the State Government to expedite the rehabilitation process of Meitei residents in Churachandpur and Moreh and provide adequate security to them until normalcy is fully restored.
