Religious leaders meet for peace in state

Imphal, June 13 2023:
A meeting of various religious leaders in the state was held at Haying Khongbal com plex in First Battalion Manipur Rifles on Tuesday, with the aim to restore peace in Manipur.
During the meeting, a forum called 'Interfaith Forum for Peace and Harmony (IFPH)' was formed to spread the message to the communities in conflict to give up violence and live in peace and harmony.
The gath: erirtg also shared their opinion and thoughts on the need- for restoring peace in the state, while appealing to all concerned to stay calm and assist those affected by the violence.
Around 34 religious lead ers belonging to Christian, Catholic, Sanamahi, Manipuri Gouriya Vaisnav, Islam, Tingkao Ragwang, Divine Life Society, Art of Living, Brahma Kumari, Bhakti Seva Lup and Gandhian Movement Ekta Parishad and unanimously agreed to shoulder the responsibility of helping to calm the people and ensure they live together peacefully.
During the meeting, Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board vice president Bidyapati Sen jam and member K Ibomcha presented eight core values of Sanamahism followed by the other leaders sharing their opinions and sugestions.
The gathering also resolved to work together to extend assistance to all those affected by the violence.
A working committee of IFPH comprising two members from each religion with Debel Bachaspatimayum as convenor was also formed on the occasion.
