Legal awareness, sensitisation programmes held

Under the sponsorship of Manipur State Legal Services Authority and National Legal Services Authority, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Tamenglong organised a one day online sensitisation programme on Friday.
The programme was attended by Tamenglong District & Sessions Judge cum DLSA chairman N Rajnikanta Singh, DLSA secretary Dr Laishram Rina Devi, additional SP (Tamenglong) P Gwite, additional SP (Noney) Peter Namsodai, assistant public prosecutor Lamneichong Haokip, Tamenglong District Bar Association president AG Chingkhiugong and vice-president Daniel P Kamsuan, members of CWC and JJB under the jurisdiction of Tamenglong and Noney districts; police personnel and PLVs of both districts.
As the resource persons, N Rajnikanta spoke on the topic "The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act: An Overview"; P Gwite on "Role of police under POCSO Act"; Lamneichong Haokip on "Role of prosecution for speedy disposal of cases under POCSO Act"; and Dr Laishram Rina Devi on the topic "Strategies for effective implementation of POCSO Act".
Meanwhile, DLSA, Chandel under the aegis of Manipur State Legal Services Authority organised a one day legal awareness programme on "Role of stakeholders in effective implementation of Juvenile Justice Act, 2015" as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, at Chandel DC Complex on Friday.
Principal magistrate (JJB), Chandel and Tengnoupal districts Sarungbam Mangaleibi Chanu delivered the welcome address and highlighted the various objectives of the JJ Act while Child Welfare Committee, Tengnoupal chairperson Michael Thomas spoke on 'the roles of Child Welfare Committees in effective implementation of the JJ Act'.
Chief Judicial Magistrate (Chandel) Kimneingah kipgen, who is also the DLSA secretary, delivered a speech on related to role of stakeholders in implementing the JJ Act, 2015 .
