HC judges, Bar members donate blood

Imphal, October 21 2023:
In view of the shortage of blood and platelets in the state due to spike in dengue cases, judges of Manipur High Court and members of High Court Bar Association in association with JNIMS organised a blood donation camp at the hospital on Saturday.
The camp was participated by Manipur High Court Justices Ahanthem Bimol, A Guneshwar and Golmei Gaiphulshillu, High Court Bar Association president Bimolchand, JNIMS director Prof L Deben and MS Dr Kh Lokeshwar.
Regarding the camp, Justice A Bimol said that the spread of dengue infection in the state has led to a shortage of blood and platelets in hospitals.
After learning of the difficulties faced by hospital authorities, the judges of Manipur High Court and members of High Court Bar Association decided to organise a blood donation camp in association with JNIMS authority on Saturday.
A second blood donation camp will be held on Sunday, he informed.
JNIMS director Prof L Deben appreciated the judges and the Bar Association for donating blood, and expressed belief that the step will help address shortage of blood at least to some extent.
He informed that the blood shortage has been aggravated due to the prevailing conflict, spike in dengue infection and rise of accident cases.
He then assured that the hospital will extend all possible help to the High Court staff in case of any ailments as reciprocal gesture.
In all, 30 units of blood were donated by judges of district courts, officers of Manipur Judicial Services, Court staff and members of High Court Bar Association during the camp.
