Imphal, April 01 2024:
Republican Party of India-Athawale candidate Maheshwar Thounaojam has pledged that if he elected in the ensuing 18th Lok Sabha Election from the Inner Manipur parliamentary constituency, he would not follow directive of party's high command but will heed the call of the people of Manipur.
He took an oath in this regard along with six other pledges at Lainingthou Sanamahi shrine located within the complex of 1st Manipur Rifles, here, on Monday afternoon.
Maheshwar vowed to completely uproot all narco-terrorists and illegal immigrants from Manipur; help the displaced people return to their ancestral homes with adequate security; campaign for withdrawal of ST status being enjoyed by underserving refugees; abolish hereditary chieftainship; include indigenous communities in the ST list; face all threats to the territorial integrity of the state; honour and safeguard all volunteers defending the integrity and unity of Manipur amidst the ongoing conflict; provide political internships to youth and spread political awareness; and follow the command of the people instead of the high command of the party.
Speaking in this regard, Maheshwar disclosed that the party leaders have been already been intimated about his pledges, to which the leaders responded positively.
The RPI-A candidate then declared that he would follow command of the people instead of the party's high command considering the prevailing situation.
He observed that as election will come and go while conflict will continue, we need to work while keeping this in mind.
He then expressed his strong objection to any dispute among the people, which would only delight outsiders.
