Drown kid fished out from Thoubal River

Thoubal, April 01 2024:
Body of a 9-year-old boy, who fell into Thoubal River in Kiyam Heibong Leirak area on Sunday afternoon, was fished out few metres from where he disappeared, on Monday morning.
The victim has been identified as Laishram Wangthoi, son of Kington of Kiyam Siphai Heibong Leikai.
On Sunday, locals as well as SDRF teams launched search for the boy till late night, and resumed early on Monday morning finally resulting in tracing the lifeless body around 11.10 am.
Local sources said that the boy along with three others were playing football in the local playground on Sunday afternoon.
Around 3 pm, they went down the river to wash their feet and hands.
As Wangthoi's slipper fell into the river, he tried to get it back during which he slipped into the river.
As he got drown and submerged, his friends did not alert the local people but went silently to their respective homes.
As the said boy did not return home till dusk, his family members started looking for him, after which his friends reported about the incident.
