Ccpur scribes sensitised on social crimes

A sensitisation cum training programme for journalists on 'right based reporting on incidences of human trafficking and child right issues' was held on Monday at VTI Auditorium, Rengkai, Churachandpur.
The training programme was organised by FXB India Suraksha with the support from ECPAT, Luxembourg.
During the programme, Wangreisosang, project director of Ukhrul branch, spoke on the Juvenile Justice Act and POGSO while Sunil Meitei, programme officer of Imphal branch, focused on the human trafficking.
The training was held under a project called Mukti, which is an anti-human trafficking and anti-child sexual abuse programme of FXBIS.
A Wingreisho shared about his anxiety on the rising cases of child sexual abuse and opined that survivors of such ghastly crimes must be compensated fairly and rehabilitated.
He also highlighted the provisions of the JJ Act and referred to the Nirbhaya rape case in which one of the four accused was a minor but was tried separately under the JJ Act.
The programme was attended by members of Churachandpur Working Reporters' Union and Manipur Hill Journalists' Union.
